Welcome to St. Gregory's!
Hello, my name is Joseph Perree and I am the proud Headteacher of St. Gregory's Catholic Primary School. A very warm welcome to our school website! Whether you are already a part of the St. Gregory's family, a prospective parent, a visitor or simply an interested party, I hope you find our website interesting and informative.
At St. Gregory's, we see our catholic education as a partnership between home, parish and school. Our Mission Statement, 'Together, in Jesus, we Love, Learn, Create and Celebrate!' really does embody our everyday work for every child. It is through Christ that our adults unite and work tirelessly to reveal the unique gifts and talents within every child and adult at our school, so every child may realise and fulfil their potential, all the while knowing and growing in God's love. Our staff share and are invested in this vision, maintaining high expectations and committing to supporting and challenging all, regardless of each child's starting point. In this pursuit, we are committed to offering our children a carefully thought-out and enjoyable knowledge-rich curriculum, with the opportunity to excel in a range of subject areas. It is our aim that the shared responsibility of learning, care and discipline will forge a close and positive liaison, with families and school working hand-in-hand for the best possible outcomes for all.
Our children are proud of their school: they feel safe, happy and loved, and they speak confidently about what makes St. Gregory's such a special place to learn and grow in. Equally, I'm incredibly proud to lead a dedicated team of professionals, committed to and wholly invested in the personal, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual growth of every child.
St. Gregory's Catholic Primary School was opened in 1968 with two sites, an Infant School and a Junior school, both under two headteachers. In the year 2000, Mrs Deborah Albon joined St. Gregory's as the substantive headteacher, amalgamating both sites to become one school. With the infant building demolished in the early 2000s, we now benefit from an abundance of outdoor space: a beautiful school garden, an outdoor cathedral, an outdoor classroom, and a forest school area, as well as an activity trim trail, a sports area and vast open and green space to learn and play in.
We pride ourselves on our genuinely welcoming, friendly and caring ethos. St. Gregory's is very much a family: a close-knit community where generations of families continue to return. I now, as headteacher, have had the privilege of experiencing St. Gregory's as a pupil, student, teacher and now headteacher.
I hope our website allows you to gain a feel for what our school strives to provide. Please follow us on Twitter (@stgregs_primary) to gain an even better idea of what life is like here at St. Gregory's.
You are most welcome to come and visit us at any time; to hear and see for yourself what makes St. Gregory's the truly special, family community that it is, from the people who make it that truly special place - our children!
Many thanks for visiting,
Mr Joseph Perree
