Branch 2: Prophecy and Promise
This half term, we have been learning about Advent; a time when we get ready for Christmas. We have talked about the Advent wreath and its meaning, and the tradition of the crib. The children have enjoyed decorating the tree and making Christmas decorations and cards. Together with Reception class we took part in our own nativity celebration which we performed for our families to share the good news of Christmas; that God's son was sent to love us all!
Continuing on with our topic; Creation and Covenant, we have been thinking about how we can look after God's world. During our discussions on people who help us we talked about rubbish collectors and how we can help keep our world clean and tidy by recycling. We have also planted spring flowering bulbs to provide food and shelter for the bees and other insects that will visit the garden. We found out that during autumn and winter there will be less food for the birds and worked together to make feeders to hang in the trees.
This term we have been exploring Creation. 'God created our beautiful world and everything in it'. We have enjoyed acting out the creation story, talking about our families and celebrating God's love for us.
