Welcome to Reception Class

with Mrs McDonnell & Mrs Groves

Reception Class has adopted the Gospel value & virtue of 'peace' and 'thankfulness'.

Peace - Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers, they shall be called children of God.

Thankfulness- Psalm 104:33

I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to God while I live.

This psalm is a song of thankfulness to our God.

In Reception Class, we like to have lots of fun whilst we learn.

Our class motto is: 'We try to be kind and helpful to others'.
We aim for every child to feel happy and safe in school.
We like good behaviour, good manners and kindness.

Reception Class has also adopted the British value of 'Helpfulness'.
Throughout this Reception year, we will be looking for ways in which

we can be helpful to each other in school and at home.

We hope your child really enjoys their Reception year at St. Gregory's!

Welcome to Reception!

Welcome to all our lovely Reception children who have started their new school year so well!

Mrs Groves and I are really impressed with how confidently they walk down the path into school and how happy and friendly they are with each other in class. They have quickly learned our Class rules and are sharing toys and taking turns with each other. The children have already engaged in all areas of learning and are enjoying all the exciting resources and activities we have provided for them in Reception.

Please use Class Dojos (you have been given a letter with an individual login for your child) as a platform to send any photographs or videos of your child's work from home. We look forward to working with you to support your child's learning in a fun and engaging way this year. Keep checking on Class Story on the Class Dojo page for latest information.

Floppy's Phonics and Oxford Owl Each day we will be reading Floppy's Phonics books during our phonics lessons. You can also access these books using the Oxford Owl website. Login details have been posted on 'Class Story' on the Class Dojo page.

Maths - Numbots Numbots is an online learning platform aimed at boosting number skills, particularly addition and subtraction. The children design their 'numbot' and work at their ability through the various levels in the games. You have already been sent an individual login for your child.

Phonics Play We use this website in school to reinforce our phonic knowledge. There are some fun games to help consolidate learning of Phase 2 Letters and Sounds which Reception children are currently working on.
