Class Teacher - Miss L.Connolly

Classroom Assistants - Mrs P.Richardson & Miss H.Richardson

Year Two have adopted the British Value of 'Respect'.
Throughout the year, we will be looking for ways we can be respectful to each other in school and at home.

Class information:

PE - Monday & Thursday

Homework:

Reading - Children will bring a book home every Monday & Thursday. Please ensure the books are read, records signed and returned to school on Monday/Thursday.

Spellings - We will be learning spellings in school which children will then bring home on a Friday. We will then have a spelling test the following Friday. Please ensure spelling books are returned to school each Friday so that new spellings can be stuck in.

English/Maths - Either a piece of English or Maths homework will be sent home on a Friday and should be completed and returned to school on Monday.

At the end of Year 2 children will be assessed using both Key Stage 1 SATs and teacher assessment. I have attached links to sample SATs papers below so that parents are aware of end of year expectations.

ee or ea?

We have been revising the long vowel sound E which we can spell as ee as in sheep or ea as in sea. Spellings and homework this week will focus on ee and ea words. As well as learning spellings and completing homework, try to encourage children to find these spellings in their reading books; see if they can say/write the word in a sentence; can they use the word in the right context? E.g. Meat or meet? See or sea? The websites below also have some useful activities. All of this will help your child to consolidate their learning.

Thank you, Miss Connolly.

Don't forget to use the Active Learn website for maths! I will be adding new maths activities throughout the year.
