Welcome to Reception Class

Reception Class

        Welcome to Reception Class

Mrs McDonnell (Class Teacher/Deputy Headteacher)
Mrs Groves (Teaching Assistant)

Reception Class have adopted the British Value of 'Helpfulness'.
Throughout the Reception year, we will be looking for ways in which
we can be helpful to each other in school and at home.

In Reception Class, we like to have lots of fun whilst we learn.
We aim for every child to be happy and feel safe in our class.
We like good behaviour, good manners and kindness.
We try to develop good listening and communicating skills.

Our class motto is: 'We try to be kind and helpful to others'
We hope your child enjoys their Reception year at St. Gregory's
Best wishes,
Mrs McDonnell & Mrs Groves

Our Curriculum

We are very flexible with our topics each half term as we plan from the children's interests. As well as our topic based learning there are some things that we do every single day. These areas of learning include Phonics and Maths plus Funky Fingers!

Parental Involvement

We value and acknowledge how important parents are in each child’s education. If your child does something at home that amazes, impresses or they are particularly proud of you can fill in a ‘Magic Moments’ sheet to let us know and celebrate their successes!

Parents are invited into class at selected times throughout each term where you will be able to share storytime/ phonics/ number sessions with your child.

We use '2build a profile' to record observations of the children during their daily play. The observations will be emailed to parents to keep you informed of your child's learning. We hope you find the observations informative. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
