PSHE Curriculum Intent
St. Gregory’s Catholic Primary School seeks to be a Christ-centred community where all are enabled to develop their full potential. Our Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) curriculum enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. It helps them understand how they are developing personally and socially and supports them in navigating the moral, social, and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
At St. Gregory’s, PSHE is a core part of our Fullness of Life offer, which brings together a range of programmes and opportunities to nurture the whole child. These include:
Through these strands, we aim to:
Fullness of Life – Our Personal Development Curriculum
Our Fullness of Life curriculum is thoughtfully designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and values they need to flourish as confident, compassionate individuals. Weekly Personal Development lessons explore themes such as safety, health and wellbeing, emotional regulation, independence, and respect. These are enhanced by high-quality RSE teaching through A Journey in Love, as well as values-based learning through Social Signature and inclusive education through No Outsiders.
Assemblies, PSHE sessions, worship time and enrichment activities are used across the year to embed each half-termly value, ensuring children understand and apply what they learn in real-world contexts. Experiences such as pupil leadership, buddy systems, local community visits, and school trips help pupils live out their Social Signature and understand the mark they can make on the world.
Furthermore, as part of our Fullness of Life offer, children in KS2 will complete BARCLAYS: Life Skills - Financial Education Scheme. For Years 3 and 4, objectives are mapped in line with our maths curriculum to support cross-curriculum learning and provide context for our money units. For Years 5 and 6, objectives are carefully selected to complement pupils’ wider personal development and to prepare them with practical skills for future financial understanding.

PSHE Curriculum Impact
The impact of our PSHE curriculum is demonstrated through:
Social Signature
Social Signature is a wonderful programme—it really empowers children to see themselves as people who can act and make a difference, so they know they belong in their community. The programme supports children in developing their social signature: the mark that our children will leave on the world by being kind, helpful and amazing; how they will make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. Throughout, they will develop 'Me' (the power of believing and investing in themselves), ‘We’ (the power of reaching out to others), ‘Them’ (the power of caring about our community) and ‘Us’(the power of making a world of difference, together. There are six strands which we look at through the lens of ‘Me, We, Them and Us’, and each strand has some suggestions for fulfilling our powers. Personal Development, in line with Social Signature, is an essential part of our curriculum as we celebrate our locality, with children gaining new experiences and learning new skills, as they take an active role in various events throughout the year. Children leave our school with a sense of belonging to a tightly-knit community, where they have the confidence, knowledge and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners.
